Stein named Mariners' number two

Stein was Newell's number two during his three years in charge of Luton and followed the former Blackburn striker to Blundell Park when he took over in October, taking on the job of chief scout. Stein is now back in the dug-out following the exit of Watkiss last month and Newell is happy to be reunited with him. "I worked with him for three years at Luton and we had a really good working relationship," he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "He's not one of those people that will just agree with everything I say which is important. "Brian knows his football. He is one of those still in love with the game. He is good with players and good at being an assistant."
