Same again for Mariners boss
Forwards Nathan Jarman (metatarsal) and Adrian Forbes (knee) remain the only absentees after the Mariners sustained no fresh injury or suspension problems during their 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham on the opening day of the League Two season.
The trip to Prenton Park pitches former Evertonian Newell against an old Liverpool foe in John Barnes.
The pair were on opposing sides in the Merseyside derby many times and Newell is looking forward to the reunion.
He said: "It will be interesting facing John Barnes' team so early-on into his reign. It will be good to see him again - he's a football man and was a great player in his day.
"I was surprised when he got the Tranmere job because I didn't know he was looking to get back into club management, but I'm sure he will do well."
