No major problem for midfielder

The Congolese midfielder, on loan from Oldham, underwent exploratory keyhole surgery on a groin injury but no serious problem was found and the 27-year-old should be fit for the game against Port Vale on April 18. Mariners boss Mike Newell hopes that the surgery will have cleared up the niggling injuries that have interrupted Kalala's loan spell so far. "JP was struggling with his groin and it wasn't getting any easier so he went for the op," Newell told the Grimsby Telegraph. "He's had that now but it's not major surgery and he should be back in training within 10 days or so. "Hopefully, he'll be back for us before the end of the season."
