Newell targets more positive results

The Mariners got off the mark in League Two at the fourth time of asking with a 1-0 victory at Bury on Saturday. Town boss Newell believes it was reward for the faith he had shown in his players despite their disappointing start to the campaign. "They showed character because it was important we got something from that game, and hopefully now we can go on and start getting some more results," said Newell. "If we can get something like nine out of the 11 firing then we give ourselves a good chance. "The signs were there against Rotherham that the players were finding their form and that the belief was coming back. The players are all honest lads and will be the first to hold their hands up and admit they haven't played anywhere near their potential so far, but the only way you get over bad form and bad results is by playing through it. "They haven't become bad players overnight and as a manager, you have to keep giving players a chance and not lose faith."
