Newell pleased with rebuilding

Newell was originally told players are reluctant to move to Blundell Park as they do not want to relocate to Lincolnshire. But the former Luton boss feels he has dispelled that myth by turning the loan deals of Joe Widdowson and Barry Conlon into permanent arrangements and he is looking forward to making more signings as the summer progresses. "The first thing I was told when I arrived was that is was very difficult to attract players to Grimsby in this day and age," he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "It doesn't seem as hard as I was led to believe. I say that because I'm getting calls from players and agents recommending players and others wanting to come and speak to us and they are good players. "I think players recognise this is a club that is bigger than League Two and can get out of this division. It's an old-fashioned football club and people around here are great."
