Newell happy with opening fixtures

The Mariners travel to Cheltenham for their first game on August 8 before hosting another side relegated from League One last season in Crewe the following weekend. Newell insists he would rather be playing teams that have dropped down from the division above than newly-promoted Burton and Torquay. "I am quite happy really. I'd rather be playing two relegated side than two promoted sides who would be on a roll," Newell told the club's official website. "It looks okay and it is down to us to get off to a good start."
