Newell gives praise to Llewellyn
The 29-year-old made just 30 appearances for the Mariners but is now heading back home despite being just halfway through his two-year contract at Blundell Park.
And Newell told the Grimsby Telegraph: "Chris is a good lad and one of the best pros I have ever worked with.
"But he had some issues that he needed to sort out and felt it was better to be nearer home in Wales.
"It never really worked out for him at Grimsby but we wish him well."
