Newell determined to turn the tide

Newell condemned the "losing mentality" he says exists around Blundell Park, and has called for the mindset to change in a bid to lift the side. The Mariners have endured a terrible start to the season and currently lie second bottom of League Two after just one win in their opening six matches. They also go into Saturday's match against Hereford with a squad ravaged by injuries and suspensions. But Newell told the Grimsby Telegraph: "Too many people in and around the club accept defeat too easily - it's like a losing mentality. "I'm not here to be Mr Nice Guy, I'm here to do a job and I'm determined to change this attitude." "I don't want anyone to accept us losing games and being in the position we are - either inside or outside of the club. Everyone needs to aim higher if the club is to get out of this rut."
