Newell: Defeat is tough to stomach

Strikes from Louis Dodds, Tom Fraser, Gareth Owen and Lee Collins sent the Mariners crashing to a fifth defeat from their first six League Two matches, while Marc Richards had his penalty saved by Grimsby debutant Josh Lillis after Danny Boshell was sent off for a professional foul on Lewis Haldane. Newell said: "Four-nil is very difficult to stomach. In terms of the amount of possession we had the score is tough to take, but you can't keep telling people that and we have to turn things around. "We felt comfortable in the first-half when we were under little pressure and there was no danger. We should have prevented the first goal, but we didn't. "We've then switched off and argued with the referee about the free-kick for the second goal. It was a lack of concentration and discipline and I have to deal with that. "We can't feel sorry for ourselves. We could have one or two players back from injury next week and we have to stay positive."
