The 24-year-old is considering an improved contract offer at Blundell Park after establishing himself as a fans' favourite during his first six months with the club. Akpa Akpro joined Grimsby in December and scored three goals in 20 appearances for Mike Newell's side. He still has a year to run on the 18-month contract he signed in the winter but has been offered a new deal. However, the player's immediate focus is on developing his game ahead of the forthcoming League Two campaign on August 8. "I think my football will be better after the past six months. Next season I will have the right preparation with the team, whereas last season I came in without any," Akpa Akpro told the Grimsby Telegraph.
