Mariners striker offered new deal
Akpa Akpro signed an 18-month deal with the Mariners in December after impressing in a reserve game.
He then went on to help Grimsby retain their Football League status and Newell is pleased with the way that he has developed.
"He's a great lad and he has a great attitude," he told his club's official website.
"When I first saw him you could see that he just had something.
"I think there's a lot more to come from Jean-Louis and I think he will get better and better playing alongside Barry (Conlon)."
