Mariners injury crisis deepens

The Mariners now have nine senior players on the treatment table after club captain Heywood picked up a foot injury in the 4-0 defeat to Port Vale, while Linwood twisted his knee. With a further three players suspended for Saturday's clash with Hereford, manager Mike Newell finds himself under even more pressure as he tries to select a team capable of picking up their first home points of the season. "Paul Linwood twisted his knee in the first half at Port Vale but we're hoping it's not a serious one. Matt Heywood hurt his foot when studs came down on top of it and he is a real doubt for the weekend as his foot has swollen - it's two more added to a long list," Newell told the Grimsby Telegraph.
