The much-travelled Irish striker made a significant contribution to Grimsby's battle to beat the drop this season, scoring five goals in eight games after he moved on loan from Bradford. The former Darlington frontman's contract with Bradford expires this summer and both the player and Mariners boss Mike Newell have expressed their desire to sort a permanent deal at Grimsby. But Fenty is determined that the signing of Conlon, who was one of Bradford's highest earners, will not break the bank. "We can't be held to ransom with any players this summer," he told the Grimsby Telegraph. "We know what Barry was paid on his previous contract at Bradford because we've been paying that to him. "There's no doubt if he wants to be at this club then a deal can be done, however. We are in talks already and we want to sit down with Barry and be sure about the deal. Our intention is to make that happen as soon as we can."
