Mariners cast eye over goalkeeper
Strukelj, 24, son of former Roma midfielder Mark, has played in Italy with Serie B side Torres Calcio but has most recently been plying his trade in Australia's A-League.
Meanwhile, manager Mike Newell has confirmed he has spoken to veteran former Sunderland keeper Nick Colgan about the possibility of a move to Blundell Park.
He told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I have spoken to Nick Colgan but only briefly. There has been no talk of offers or contracts or anything like that.
"I have spoken to a few keepers about coming here so it is nothing to get too excited about."
