Mariners boss reflects on 'high'

The Mariners ensured their Football League survival with a point, although their superior goal difference over Chester meant they were virtually secured of survival last weekend. Manager Newell said: "This is as important as any of the highs that I have had. It does not feel like a high but it is as important as anything I have achieved in the game. "It's not something I'm going to be celebrating. Obviously there's a long job to be done here and the first part of that was keeping the club up. Now we can start planning for next year and I just can't see a club like Grimsby having as big a struggle as they have had this year. "It's obviously nice to keep the majority of the squad together because there has been a good spirit in the dressing room in the last five or six weeks. "We think we have got the basis of a squad but we need to bring in a few new faces and we have all summer to do that."
