Mariners boss fumes at officials

The Mariners went 2-0 up through goals from Adrian Forbes (21 and 57), despite having Chris Llewellyn sent off for a tackle on Adam Yates five minutes before the break. It was referee Chris Sarginson's third sending-off in four days, having dismissed two Scunthorpe players on Saturday.[LNB]As Grimsby tired, Morecambe drew level with goals from Michael Twiss (61) and Diarmuid O'Carroll (80), before Garry Hunter hit the winner in the last minute. "The game was changed by the sending-off," said Newell. "We had done well to get ourselves 2-0 up, but it was always going to be hard, and you could sense the nervousness the longer the game went on.[LNB]"I think the problem is the rules and the people enforcing them. I don't think it's a great game to watch anymore. There is no tackling allowed, and honest tackles are getting penalised. You can get fouled now when a shadow interrupts your stride.[LNB]"It's the people at the top of the game who are making the rules who haven't got a clue what they are talking about, and the people who are enforcing them are in the same boat. The game is not going in the right direction. There is too much analysis on TV.[LNB]"Professionals know when someone could injure someone. Referees don't, the people making the rules haven't got a clue. We in the game are not consulted on these new directives. He won the ball, and there was no chance the lad was going to get injured, and that's twice this referee has done us in the last three weeks now. They just patronise you, these idiots."[LNB][LNB]
