Mariners boss: Bennett is staying

The Mariners have already rejected a bid from Championship-bound Peterborough for the 19-year-old, who has triggered a clause in his contract which means he is on a two-year deal at Blundell Park. And Newell told the club's official website: "Nobody in their right mind sells a player in the close season. Fortunately, we've got a chairman who can afford to pick the right time to sell the player. "He's a mature lad and he's got his head in the right place. He won't be swayed by the people who are trying to influence him (namely the agents) at the moment. "He will keep progressing and his value will keep going up. "We won't stand in his way when the time is right, but that time isn't now."
