Mariner boss rues draw at Blues

The teams had to settle for a point apiece after Ryan Lowe's cool finish cancelled out Nick Hegarty's first-half goal. A win for Grimsby would have taken them out of the bottom two, leapfrogging Chester in the process, but the draw was a fair result. Newell said: "I thought we threw it away and I'm very disappointed because this was a chance to get an away win and go ahead of them in the process. "We had plenty of the game in the first half but we just didn't get started in the second half. There was a lack of composure and quality from us which is very frustrating. "We didn't play the conditions as well as Chester and they caused us some problems in the second half."
