Mariners miss Brown and Jones for Stevenage clash

Grimsby pair Rhys Browne and Dan Jones have both been ruled out of the home game against Stevenage.

Winger Browne is struggling with a hamstring strain and defender Jones is not yet ready to return from the knee injury which kept him out of last week's home defeat to Leyton Orient.

Sean McAllister, who has missed the last two matches due to a groin injury, will be monitored. The midfielder is training with the first team but requires an injection at some point to aid his full recovery.

The Mariners, promoted back to the Football League in May, have lost their last three league matches.

Stevenage boss Darren Sarll has new signing Henry Cowans available and is likely to recall a number of first-teamers to his side having made four changes for the 4-0 EFL Cup defeat to Stoke in midweek.

The likes of Jobi McAnuff, Michael Tonge, Dean Wells and Matt Godden - who scored a last-minute winner in the league success over Luton last weekend - will all be expecting a recall.

Cowans arrived on a loan deal until January from Aston Villa on Thursday and could be involved, but Tom Conlon is likely to miss out once again with a knee problem suffered in the recent defeat to Leyton Orient.

Fellow midfielder Steven Schumacher will definitely be absent due to the anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained last season.
