The club will take on Belgian side RRFC Montegnee on Wednesday in their first match of the summer but Newell is more interested in putting his players through their paces than picking up wins. "I'll be playing the lads who have looked the fittest so far in training" Newell told the Grimsby Telegraph. "The tournament allows you to make 10 changes at half-time and I'll probably do that." Newell could hand debuts to new-signings Nick Colgan, Paul Linwood and Michael Leary, while Joe Widdowson, Barry Conlon, Peter Sweeney and Adrian Forbes await their first games since penning permanent deals.
