Conlon gets Mariners off the mark

Barry Conlon headed the visitors into a 20th-minute lead and that proved to be enough to clinch the Mariners' first points of the season. Grimsby came close with Jamie Clarke firing narrowly over before Conlon opened the scoring, heading home Danny North's cross for his second goal of the season. Bury came back it into and Grimsby's on-loan keeper Tommy Forecast spilled a David Worrall drive but denied Jordan Robertson from the rebound. The visitors eased the pressure with North volleying just over before Bury brought on star striker Andy Bishop, back from a hernia operation. But the Shakers could not prevent their second home defeat from two matches.
