The 36-year-old only joined the club in the summer but has been handed the role following last month's departure of Ryan Bennett to Peterborough.[LNB]And Colgan has rubbished the notion that outfield players make better skippers.[LNB]He told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I'm very privileged to get given the armband and there's a lot of pride there for me. I'm greatly honoured that Neil has asked me to do the job.[LNB]"People might say because I'm a goalkeeper I shouldn't be the captain, but I don't agree with that. Neil's asked me to take it on as I'm probably the most experienced in the squad.[LNB]"I'd like to think that some of my professionalism rubs off on some of the other lads."[LNB][LNB]
