The much-travelled 35-year-old, who had a brief loan spell at Blundell Park in 1994, is a free transfer after being released by Sunderland this summer. Colgan's arrival brings an end to the club's search for a keeper following the departures of Phil Barnes and Gary Montgomery. Colgan, who has won nine caps for the Republic of Ireland, was recommended to Grimsby boss Mike Newell by former Sunderland manager Roy Keane.
