Bulls hit by late North winner

The striker forced the ball home at the second attempt after 88 minutes to make it 15 league games without a win for Hereford. The highlight of a scrappy first half came when Kenny Lunt back-heeled a free-kick to Glen Southam and Josh Lillis in the Grimsby goal had to be at his best to keep out a low right-footed shot curled around a wall. Grimsby replied when Paul Linwood met a Peter Sweeney corner but headed over the bar, while Hereford twice went close early in the second half with Darren Jones heading narrowly wide from a Southam free-kick and then Tristan Plummer turned on the edge of the box and fired just past the post. Grimsby should have gone ahead with 18 minutes left when North was played clear by Sweeney but, with only Adam Bartlett to beat, he fired straight at the keeper. But North made amends with two minutes to go when, looking offside, he picked up a pass from Sweeney and after his first effort had been blocked he forced a close-range header home.
