      Gretna support fixture switch

      10 Apr 2008 - 08:56:58

Gretna caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth has backed the SPL's decision to allow the cash-strapped club to play four of their remaining five fixtures away from home.

The Black & Whites, who were plunged into administration amid fears for their short-term future last month, will play the majority of their remaining fixtures away from their temporary home of Fir Park in a bid to save money.

Wadsworth was speaking after just 751 fans turned up to watch Wednesday's 1-1 draw with St Mirren.

"I suggested to our administrators that we play the last five games away because financially it is easier to play away than it is at home," he said.

"It's a costly exercise putting the games on here, whereas away games you only need a bus. So I think it has been done for that reason and we appreciate that.

"To be honest, it would be nice to go to away grounds anyway because it's going to be a better atmosphere and it's helpful to the other teams.

"We know we are going down so we just want to make the most of these games."
