Gretna manager Davie Irons has given his endorsement to the Scottish Premier League's decision to postpone his side's game against Rangers.
The Black & Whites were scheduled to face Rangers at 4pm on Sunday but the Glasgow giants asked for the game to be rearranged due to their vital Champions League showdown with Lyon next Wednesday.
The SPL agreed to the request and Rangers will now visit Fir Park on Wednesday January 16.
"We have to look at the bigger picture - it isn't just about Rangers, it's about the knock-on effect for the whole of Scottish football, the co-efficient and the positive effects it can have on our game," said Irons.
Meanwhile, Rangers have thanked the SPL's bottom club for agreeing to the postponement.
"Gretna were more than happy to accommodate our request when initially contacted last week and we are delighted the SPL have now agreed to postpone Sunday's game at Fir Park," said a club spokesman.
"The decision not only benefits Rangers but Scottish football as a whole and we can now concentrate fully on our crucial Champions League tie with Lyon at Ibrox on December 12."
