Alexander to fight sacking

Rowan Alexander has confirmed his intention to contest Gretna's decision to dismiss him as manager.
The Black & Whites formally confirmed his sacking on Tuesday after initially placing the 46-year-old on leave due to an undisclosed illness eight months ago.
A brief statement claimed Alexander has been dismissed from the club "after an extensive investigation and internal procedure", but the former boss is now planning to fight the decision and seek £100,000 in unpaid wages.
"In my opinion the whole business has been handled in an amateurish manner," said lawyer Steven Bailey, who is representing Alexander on behalf of the Scottish League Managers' Association.
"To be quite frank, I would expect more from a corner shop.
"When we asked for a copy of their disciplinary procedures it took their HR manager two months to find it.
"When we went to the meeting with them we found out that a number of the issues we were supposed to be questioned about had been dropped, while for others they couldn't provide statements.
"We produced a copy of an article from Gretna's official website posted on August 6, which described Rowan as the club's former manager. Their HR manager claimed that had been 'an oversight.'
"We have also lodged a grievance for unpaid wages and, while Gretna have accepted that Rowan is due money from the club, they haven't paid him."
