Romania v Greece friendly scrapped

A scheduled friendly between Greece and Romania on November 15 in Germany has been cancelled due to the refusal of the German Football Federation to host the came because of security fears.

"The match against Greece will not take place," Romanian Football Federation (FRF) president Mircea Sandu told Dolce Sport television on Monday.

"The problem with Greece is the venue where the match will take place. The German federation has not given their backing because they had problems with their own fans."

Greece had wanted the match on November 15 to be held in the German city of Reutlingen, where there are many Greek expatriates.

The Greek federation had said last week that they were looking for an alternative country, possibly Austria.

Greece, the 2004 European champions, qualified for Euro 2012 after finishing first in their group.

They host Russia in a friendly on November 11 and want to play Romania four days later.
