Grays Athletic 0-4 York City

Two-goal Richard Brodie ended his long run without scoring as York City improved their hopes of making the Blue Square Premier play-offs.Brodie was the provider when Paul Harsley gave York the lead against the bottom club on the half hour. [LNB]And it was all over by the break when Brodie struck twice from close range inside three minutes - taking his tally to 23 for the season [LNB]Neil Barrett completed the rout after the break, firing into the top corner. [LNB]It was a comfortable win for York, triggered by Brodie's return to scoring form, having not scored since 16 January. [LNB]After Chesterfield loanee Harsley had slotted home, he swapped roles when he turned provider seven minutes later for Brodie. [LNB]Another neat finish inside the six-yard box by Brodie was then capped by Barrett's effort from 12 yards. [LNB]And the only consolation for Grays, after their 24th defeat of the season, was that Gateshead's defeat at Eastbourne means that they averted relegation - for another few days at least. [LNB][LNB]York boss Martin Foyle told BBC Radio York:[LNB] [LNB][LNB] "It was a very convincing 4-0 win. It was hard because of the gale-force winds but we had a lot of chances and it was a good finish from Paul Harsley that relaxed us a little bit. [LNB]"The lads were bright and I thought Michael Gash was outstanding. He had a spring in his step. [LNB]"People think it's all about goals but I brought him here as a hold-up man to bring people into the play and make the team click, and I thought he did that."
