The club's first match against another team saw the Third Lincolnshire Volunteer Rifles visit London Road. Eighteen players turned out in the match with Grantham winning 2-1 with the gate receipts of £6.
Jack MaCartney scored 20 goals in 34 games during the 1937-1938 season. He then became the leading goalscorer for the club with 416 goals in just 456 appearances.
In 1999 £20,000 was donated by a mystery benefactor which paid off the tax man and created a CVA for Grantham.
