Gillingham have allowed midfielder Stuart Thurgood to return to former club Grays Athletic on a month's loan.
The 26-year-old joined the Gills, initially on loan in November, but has struggled to adapt to life back in the Football League and has not featured for nearly a month.
Priestfield boss Mark Stimson told the club's official website: "Stuart has agreed to go out on loan to Grays Athletic.
"I want him to get some games under his belt because, at this moment in time, I cannot guarantee him first-team football week in, week out."
Meanwhile, Stimson believes that loanee Kevin Maher will be a key figure in his side's battle to avoid the drop.
He told the Kent Messenger: "Kevin is here for one reason and that's to help us get out of the problems we are in.
"We need his experience and he can go into the changing room and the matches and take it by the horns."
