Swine flu scare for Royce family

The 37-year-old was forced to sit out the friendly win at Crystal Palace on Sunday and manager Mark Stimson - who has still not revealed whether Royce or Alan Julian will start the season as his first-choice keeper - admits it will probably force him out of the game with Swindon on Saturday. He said: "Unfortunately he's had to stay away. We don't know if that will be five days, seven days or 10 days but we'll find out on Monday. "We'll make a decision later in the week but I think Alan's probably got the edge now because Simon is going to be out for at least five days training." Stimson saw midfielder Kevin Maher forced off in the first half at Selhurst Park with an ankle injury and fears he will also miss the big kick-off, although youngster Jack Payne could be a ready-made replacement after he scored the only goal against the Eagles. "It doesn't look good for Kevin," Stimson added. "He's not walking that easily but it was good to see Jack go on and with that performance he's put himself in the frame for next week."
