Gillingham manager Mark Stimson was delighted to see his side begin life back in League One with a thumping 5-0 win at home to Swindon Town.
A Simeon Jackson hat-trick was the inspiration behind the victory, with Stimson full of praise for his star player.
He told the club's official website: "To come away winning and 5-0 as well, that is what dreams are made of.
"When your top scorer goes and gets a hat-trick, there is not much more than you can ask for. We didn't pick up any injuries either, so that was pleasing as well.
"We have to look forward now and hopefully keep all the players and hopefully add a couple more, so that we can enjoy the season."
