The 25-year-old centre-back has arrived in Kent on an initial five-week loan from Carlisle with a view to a longer deal and made a solid start in the 3-1 friendly win at Bishop's Stortford on Tuesday. And he said: "I spoke to the manager a few times about the way he wanted to play and he really wanted me to come down and do well. He just had confidence in me, so that was a big thing. "I know he's a bit of a taskmaster; I know he works the lads hard and wants to get the best out of them. "Coming here will mean that the manager will get the most out of me and I'm looking forward to it." Meanwhile, a Gills XI including just four players with first-team experience was beaten 1-0 at non-League Aveley on Wednesday.
