Stimson set to protect players

The Gills have lost Dennis Oli, Stuart Lewis and Adam Miller to injury in the past week, and that is likely to lead Stimson to abandon his plans of giving his planned starting XI a full run-out in the remaining friendlies, starting on Tuesday night at Bromley. "We'll probably start with near the best and then might make a lot of changes at half-time," he said. "With this injury factor thing, every time you play a competitive game you are dicing with an injury and someone being out for a week or two, or longer. "We could possibly bring in trialists because of injuries and I know there are a lot of people out there who still haven't got clubs." One player who will return at Bromley is striker Simeon Jackson, who has missed the entire pre-season programme so far after being away on international duty with Canada at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
