Stimson hoping to tie up Maher

The 32-year-old midfielder looked to be on his way to Priestfield last summer, even training with the squad in pre-season, before instead opting to sign for Oldham. But having been released by the Latics this summer, Stimson has again made his move, and he is hoping to finally tie up a deal with all parties now back on home soil. "Unfortunately the chairman's been away and Kevin's been away so we've missed each other," Stimson told kentnews.co.uk. "It's dragged on a bit but Kevin's back now and the chairman has spoken to his advisers while I've been away. It's just about matching it all up now. "I hope history doesn't repeat itself, the big thing last year was Kevin wanted to play League One football and he uprooted from Essex to play for Oldham. We're in League One now and I'm hoping he comes and plays for us." Meanwhile, Stimson also revealed Maher's impending move looks likely to have ended any interest in former loanee Josh Wright, but he is looking to hold further contract talks with goalkeeper Simon Royce, while first-team coach Mark Robson looks certain to pen a new deal.
