Scally makes call for rule change

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has slammed the current rules against clubs going into administration as "a mockery". Under current rules, clubs going into administration are automatically deducted 10 points but Scally, who has managed to keep the Gills out of administration despite debts which have been as high as £12million, believes that deduction is not enough. He told Kent News: "I do not like this points deduction system and in truth it has become a bit of a mockery. "If a club go into administration they should be relegated and not allowed to get promoted for three seasons. I do not have any problem with that. "These clubs do not go into administration lightly, but it may be they have spent money on players they shouldn't have and that gives them an advantage they should not have. "Rather than having points knocked off they should be relegated and only allowed to return three seasons later once they have proved to the league they have their finances in order."
