Royce hopeful of new Gills deal

The 37-year-old kept a clean sheet as the Gills won promotion by beating Shrewsbury at Wembley but is out of contract next month - and fears he will not be offered a new deal by the Kent club, who he joined in 2007. "We're going to have a chat," said Royce. "Gillingham is my number one choice. I'm hoping it's not my last game for Gillingham. "I'm not confident that there will be something for me, but I think promotion has helped a little bit. The manager has kept faith in me so I'm pleased, and I'm waiting to see what happens next year. "If it doesn't happen then there won't be any sour grapes. I'll be going out on a high. How bad is that - a clean sheet at Wembley and a bit of silverware."
