Not good enough - Hessenthaler

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler criticised his team for not displaying a ruthless streak after Northampton came from behind to win 2-1 and end a five game losing streak. The Gills took an early lead through Chris Palmer but Dean Beckwith equalised against his former club. Beckwith was then fouled by Matt Lawrence in the box and Leon McKenzie slammed home the decisive goal from the penalty spot five minutes before half-time. "It wasn't good enough it's as simple as that," said Hessenthaler. "We knew Northampton were on a sticky run and we wanted to make them more nervous from the start. "We had a game plan and for the first 15 minutes it went well and we scored a great goal from a set piece training move. "But it's typical of us to let Northampton back in to the game by not picking up at a set piece. As for the penalty I thought it was a poor decision, both players were tugging each other and I think it was six of one and half-a-dozen of the other."
