No Gills deal for Rocastle

Craig Rocastle has returned to Port Vale after failing to impress Gillingham manager Mark Stimson during a loan spell at the Priestfield Stadium.

The 26-year-old midfielder enjoyed a fine debut in the Gills' 3-1 win at Huddersfield Town last month but has drifted out of the first-team picture in recent weeks.

Stimson explained to the club's official website: "It's a shame things haven't worked out for Rocky because I believe he has good ability.

"He came here hoping to be offered a permanent deal and did well for us at Huddersfield.

"Since then his performances have not reached the level we require. I wish him well with his future but that future will not be here at Gillingham."
