Mulligan boost for Gills

Gillingham have been boosted by the news that striker Gary Mulligan will be out for just three weeks with an ankle problem it was thought could rule him out for the season.

The 20-year-old Irish hitman, who is on loan with the Gills from Sheffield United, looked in serious trouble when he was stretchered off with his ankle in a brace during Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers.

However, he underwent a scan on the problem area on Tuesday which revealed that he suffered only minimal ligament damage which should see him back within a month, much to the relief of boss Ronnie Jepson.

Meanwhile, Neil Harris could be in line to return to the side ahead of the weekend's clash against Scunthorpe having responded well to treatment on his own ankle injury.
