On-loan striker Cody McDonald has been named Gillingham`s player of the year. The 24-year-old swept the board at the awards evening, scooping five of the six prizes. McDonald enjoyed a superb season, scoring 25 goals following his arrival from Norwich as the Gills narrowly missed out on the League Two play-offs. McDonald claimed the prizes voted for by the supporters and also won the awards decided by his team-mates and the club's sponsors. His strike against Burton in March won goal of the season. Jack Payne was the night's other winner, collecting the Young Player of the Season award.
