McCammon red card to stand
23 Sep 2008 - 15:47:55
Gillingham have failed with their attempt to have Mark McCammon's red card in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Aldershot Town overturned.
The 30-year-old former Doncaster Rovers striker will now serve a three-match suspension, forcing him to miss the League Two games against Port Vale and Exeter City, as well as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Colchester United.
McCammon was dismissed for his 13th-minute challenge on Shots goalkeeper Nikki Bull.
Despite playing with ten men for 77 minutes, the Gills almost hung on for a point at the Recreation Ground only for Scott Davies to grab a winner for Gary Waddock's side with four minutes remaining.
Boss Mark Stimson had said after the match: "I know Mark McCammon. I don't think there was any intent, it's just not in his game."
