Gillingham midfielder Kevin Maher was delighted to make a winning return to the first team at the weekend.
The 33-year-old hopes he stays in Mark Stimson's side after helping them to a 1-0 win against his former club Oldham Athletic on Saturday as the Gills edged away from the League One relegation zone.
Speaking to Kent Online, he said: "It's nice to get out there, get dirty and get involved.
"There were a few tackles flying around but it was those kind of conditions.
"It was so swirly and bobbly, the ball gets away from you at times and it can lead to a few tackles going in.
"That's the way it goes and there probably aren't as many games like that these days."
