The 32-year-old became Stimson's first summer signing by signing a two-year contract following his release from Oldham. Maher said: "He's shown a lot of faith in me, which is a massive boost. I know him well and I know the way he likes the team to play. "I would have liked to have stayed here last season, but at my age I wanted to play at the highest level for as long as I can. "I kept in touch with some of the lads and watched a few matches last season. I was really impressed with their style of play. "It's going to be a good league this season, but Gillingham have a lot of good players on their books and I know the gaffer is looking to add a few more. There's no reason why we can't do well."
