King opened the scoring as the Gills got their play-off push back on track before Andy Barcham netted either side of Gareth Evans' penalty to secure the victory.

"Simon King is a big, big player for us, he was really focused too and his contribution was exceptional," said Stimson.

"He reminds me of Gary Mabbutt, six-foot with a great leap but also has terrific ability and plays for the team.

"In the games he hasn't played we struggled so it was a big bonus to have him back. It's great to return to winning ways, taking the three points was so important.

"The boys did it without being pretty and at the end we also saw some real quality from Barcham."
