Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson was delighted by the spirit shown by his side in their 2-1 victory at Doncaster Rovers.
The Gills made light of the sending-off of Danny Jackman in the first half at Belle Vue to record only their second win of the campaign.
Jepson said afterwards: "You think everything's against you and the lads could have hidden behind that.
"But they didn't and to a man they stuck to the task and we're grateful for the three points.
"The players worked their socks off and were a credit to the club.
"Doncaster threw everything at us but we stuck our heads and feet and bodies in the way. I thought we defended admirably and fully deserved to win."
