Jepson fears for Jarvis
24 Jan 2007 - 10:21:26
Gillingham manager Ronnie Jepson is concerned that Matt Jarvis could miss Friday's League One clash with Tranmere Rovers after the highly-rated winger had to limp out of the defeat at Swansea City.
Jepson was pleased with the way his side responded to conceding an early goal at the Liberty Stadium but fears for Jarvis, who has been linked with a host of Premiership clubs in recent weeks.
"My biggest concern is Matty Jarvis who picked up an ankle injury and we have to get some rest before playing on Friday," the Gills boss said after the 2-0 defeat.
"It was a bad start and, when you go a goal down to a side of Swansea's quality, you fear the worst.
"But I have to give credit to my team because they gave a good account of themselves.
"In the first half we were a bit in awe of them, but we came back and had enough chances and put them under pressure.
"I thought the goal would come and, if we'd scored, then it would have been interesting but we couldn't."
