Jackson joins up with Gills
01 Feb 2008 - 07:46:06
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson pulled off a late swoop to sign striker Simeon Jackson from Rushden & Diamonds.
The 20-year-old has found the net 18 times for the Blue Square Premier side this season and has joined the Gills on a three-and-a-half year deal.
Jackson is a Canada Under-20 international striker who cost the League One club a reported £150,000.
"It has been a bit of whirlwind for me because it only really went through over the last couple of days, but I am delighted to have completed the move and put pen-to-paper," he told the club's official website.
"It is a great opportunity for me to make the step up to League One and show what I can do so I want to take this chance with both hands.
"I will bring some pace and strength to the frontline and I like to get in behind the defence and ultimately score goals.
"That is what every striker thrives on and I am no different."
Meanwhile, Steve Lomas, Dave Graham and Craig Armstrong have all left the Priestfield after having their contracts cancelled by mutual consent.
