Hessenthaler rues dropped points

Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler felt the savage wind prevented his in-form side from being at their best in the goalless draw with Oxford. The Gills never hit top gear in a tepid performance, though Cody McDonald hit the crossbar in the last minute with a stooping header. Hessenthaler said: "You really need to win your home games. We are a bit disappointed. We didn't really get going. "We can't complain too much because we haven't lost in 13, but sometimes it's better to lose one and win three than draw too many. Earlier on in the season we would have probably lost that game with the confidence being so low. "There was only one real winner and that was the wind. It was never going to be pretty and in the end it was a fair result. "We were lucky to have Cody McDonald on the pitch. He had paramedics at his house on Thursday night, he was being sick and had diarrhoea. I was tempted to take him off, but I kept him on because he is such a goalscorer and he nearly got us one at the end when he hit the bar."
